Subaru’s WRC (World Rally Championship) lead driver, Petter Solberg, was involved in the development to realize a higher level of performance. A precision O/H of the supercharged engine with ball bearing turbine delivered excellent response from the 320ps / 43.0kg-m output. However, this machine was not all numbers and captured a deeply satisfying sensuality and feel with accelerator response, even at high RPM. In addition to the suspension, arms/stabilizers were specially designed for the undercarriage to realize superior road-holding performance. The introduction of the S203 elevated the power and prestige of the Impreza and created a position for STI complete cars that became recognized around the world.
